Appearance
Jesmonite trinket trays with resin art are visually striking and versatile:
- Base Layer: The base is made from Jesmonite, known for its smooth, matte finish and customisable colors.
- Resin Art Overlay: The top surface is adorned with resin art, featuring designs such as vibrant swirls, marbled patterns, or embedded decorative elements like flowers or metallic flakes.
Types of Trinket Trays
- Solid Jesmonite Base with Resin Design: The tray’s base is crafted from Jesmonite, while the top is decorated with resin art, which can include intricate patterns or clear layers encapsulating decorative items.
- Mixed Material Tray: A combination of Jesmonite and resin where both materials are integrated into the design, creating a seamless blend of textures and effects.
- Embedded Elements: The resin layer can contain embedded items such as pressed flowers, leaves, or stones, adding depth and visual interest.
Crafting Process
- Design and Mould Preparation: Select or create a mould for the desired shape and size of the trinket tray.
- Mixing Jesmonite: Combine Jesmonite powder with a liquid polymer and add pigments if desired.
- Pouring the Base: Pour the Jesmonite mixture into the mould and allow it to set and cure.
- Adding Resin Art: Once the Jesmonite base is fully cured, prepare the resin by mixing it with pigments and other additives. Pour or apply the resin to the top of the Jesmonite tray, creating the desired artistic effect.
- Curing: Allow the resin to cure completely, which may take several hours to days, depending on the resin type.
- Finishing Touches: After curing, de-mould the tray and perform any necessary sanding or polishing to achieve a smooth, professional finish.
Aesthetic Appeal
The combination of Jesmonite and resin art offers endless creative possibilities:
- Colour and Texture Contrast: The matte texture of Jesmonite contrasts beautifully with the glossy, vibrant resin art.
- Depth and Dimension: Resin art adds depth and a three-dimensional effect to the flat surface of the Jesmonite tray.
- Customisation: Each tray can be a unique piece, customised to specific colour schemes and design preferences.
Functional Benefits
- Durability: Jesmonite provides a sturdy, long-lasting base for the trinket tray.
- Heat Resistance: Both Jesmonite and resin are heat resistant, making the tray suitable for holding hot items.
- Water Resistance: The resin layer adds water resistance, protecting the tray from spills and moisture.
Care Instructions
To maintain the beauty and functionality of Jesmonite and resin trinket trays:
- Clean gently: Wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid abrasive cleaners that can scratch the resin surface.
- Handle with care: Though durable, avoid dropping the tray on hard surfaces to prevent damage.
- Avoid prolonged sunlight exposure: Prolonged exposure to UV light can cause resin to yellow over time.
Jesmonite trinket trays with resin art are an exquisite blend of functionality and artistic expression. They serve as practical storage solutions and decorative pieces, perfect for adding a touch of elegance to any space.
